The PFA Olympic Committee is proud to present "Pole Sports: A Roadmap to the Olympics." In a collaboration and synergy of efforts, the committee has outlined a course of action for the pole dance and fitness community to further our common goals. Read Now >>

The PFA has been in contact with the US Olympic Organization regarding Olympic recognition. Being recognized is a top-down procedure within the Olympic community starting with the creation of an International Sports Federation (IF). The Pole Fitness Association is studying the requirements and procedures for establishing an IF for Pole Fitness. More IF Info >

Ours will be called the "International Pole Sports Federation" in keeping with Olympic naming conventions and will be a non-profit organization hosted in the United States. It's web site will soon be found at www.PoleSports.org.

International Federations are international non-governmental organizations recognized by the International Olympic Committee as administering a sport at world level. There is an Olympic-affiliated organization dedicated towards helping IFs called General Association of International Sports Federations. More Info >

The IFs have the responsibility and duty to manage and to monitor the everyday running of the world's various sports disciplines, including for those on the programme, the practical organization of events during the Games. The IFs must also supervise the development of athletes practicing these sports at every level. Each IF governs its sport at world level and ensures its promotion and development. They monitor the everyday administration of their sports and guarantee the regular organization of competitions as well as respect for the rules of fair play.

Once you have an established IF, you can apply to the International Olympic Committee (IOC) to be recognized as a sport. If the IOC does choose to recognize your sport, you are not automatically added to the Olympic games. There are many factors that follow to get you into the Olympic Games. Needless to say, it is a long road requiring the effort and dedication of countless individuals. While the petitions below will not get Pole Fitness into the Olympics, they will build awareness which helps to build the popularity of the sport which is crucial to being recognized.

Olympic Petitions

With the 2012 Olympics coming up in London, Vertical Dance and Labfitness thought it about time they got the ball rolling in lobbying the International Olympic Committee into having Pole Fitness as a demonstration sport/test sport. We would like you to take part in this quest by getting as many people as possible to sign the petition. Sign the Petition now!
